Changes in Australia PR (Permanent Residency) Nov 2019

Effective from November, 2019, Australian government is making changes in immigration point system. This changes may help lots of unmarried applicants, who are waiting for the Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Australian visa. Complete information can be find in below page.

Highlight of changes applicable to Australia’s immigration point system

With effect from November 16, 2019, following changes will be implemented in Australia’s Immigration point Calculator 2019:

  • 10 points for unmarried.
  • 10 points for skilled partner.
  • 5 Points for applicants with a partner who has competent English
  • 10 points for having few STEM like Technology ,Science, Mathematics and Engineering degree.
  • 15 Points for applicants nominated by a State or Territory government or family sponsored

Changes in Regional Visa sub class

There two new subclass of PR visa introduced and are as below:

1 – Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (Subclass 491)

For the candidate nominated by a state or territory government agency or sponsored by an eligible family member living in a designated regional area.

2 – Subclass 191 Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional)

Introduced new PR visa subclass from 16 November 2022.

Removed following new subclass:

1- Subclass 489 (Skilled – Regional (Provisional) visa (Subclass 489)

This subclass will be no more and this is removed to primary applicants seeking to fulfill the parameters for the grant of a Subclass 489 visa in the First Provisional Visa stream. Subclass 489

New Parent Visa application

New Parent visa has been introduced by Australian government with few additional benefits. This type of applications visa can be placed from 17th April 2019 for their parents.

For international graduates from regional institutions, additional 1 year visa will be provided.

Additional Temporary Graduate visa with an extra year of post-study work rights for international students :

  • who graduate from the regional campus of a registered university or institution with a higher education or postgraduate qualification; and
  • who maintain ongoing residence in a regional area while holding their first Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa
